Treaty Six
Treaty Six was signed on August 23, 1875 in Fort Calton, Saskatchewan Canada. The treaty territory ranges from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In its entirety, the member nations total 50 nations, and 16 in Alberta (Treaty Six, 2020). Furthermore, there are a wide array of Indigenous cultures and communities that carry different languages. Within Alberta and Treaty Six, there are the Anishnaabe, Dene Suline, Plains Cree, Stoney | Nakota. Each comes from unique family languages. The member nations in Alberta are:

It is important to note that prior to signing treaties, the First Nations peple believed that they were making an agreement to share the land and resources, not completely current it to the government (Empowering the Spirit, 2017).
